Littleton Female College featured
Once upon a time Littleton was a college town. In 1908, Littleton Female College enrolled a high of 285 students tackling challenging courses such as physics, stenography, and Latin. On Jan. 22, 2019, a fire destroyed the school’s buildings, ending a 37-year run of higher education in the town. Last week, Matt Johnston delivered a presentation on Littleton Female College and its impact on the municipality as the guest speaker for the Littleton Historical Society and guests at the Roanoke Valley Veterans Museum.
