Amid churn at the CTA and Metra over the years, leadership at Pace has remained relatively stable, with its board composed mostly of current and former mayors. That changed this month. As a result of the Northern Illinois Transit Authority Act, the suburban bus agency underwent a refresh with about 75% of the board's members exiting and a slew of newcomers taking office.

PAUL, Minn., and CHICAGO – Amtrak and the partner states of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois are reporting strong customer demand for the Borealis trains between St. Paul and Chicago: more than 500,000 guests have ridden the daily train since service began May of 2024.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This year’s announcement of Rail Safety Week tied in with Sprinfield’s rail consolidation project. “Separating pedestrian and motorists from train tracks reduces the likelihood of crashes,” said Illinois Commerce Commission chairman Doug Scott at Thursday’s event at the Sangamon County Complex. “Once completed, the Tenth Street corridor will replace more than 25 at-grade crossings, which will be eliminated. The safety benefits of these improvements will be all the more important with train volumes expected to increase from 35 to 81 trains per day by 2030.”
