WHRHS Softball: Watchung Hills Smacks Pingry in Somerset County Semis, 12-2

WARREN, NJ — Watchung Hills is going back to the Somerset County finals after defeating Pingry on Wednesday, 12-2. Riley Bobrowski allowed just 3 hits striking out 12 for the Warriors. Ella Stevenson led the Watchung Hills offense with a home run and 4 RBI.

“We’re very excited to have the opportunity to defend our county title this year,” said WHRHS head coach Brian Figueriedo. “I thought we were very resourceful today and made their pitcher work all game long.  We were issued 9 walks and that’s a credit to our players for being patient and fouling off a lot of pitches to stay in at bats.  Ella got the big hit to give us some breathing room and Riley gave us another excellent effort in the circle.  Immaculata is a great opponent and we’ll have our hands full with them in the final, but we’ll show up ready to play and we’re looking forward to playing in another county championship game.”

Watchung Hills improves to 19-2 and next plays Immaculata in the Somerset County final Friday at 7 pm at Torpey in Bridgewater.
