Wamego softball has hit a road bump amid a strong season but weather permitted them to finish their contests over the past week.

The Lady Raiders (14-4) have lost three straight contests after being swept by Rossville in a road matchup on Monday.

The Bulldogs narrowly won a pitcher’s duel in the opener, 2-0, despite the efforts of Tennessee commit Peyton Hardenburger. The senior went 2-for-3 at the plate while pitching a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Rossville’s Katie Speilman earned the win with a shutout of the Lady Raiders, allowing four hits and striking out three batters. The Bulldogs scored both runs in the fifth with small-ball tactics.

In the finale, Rossville had more success against Wamego’s Landri Adams. They knocked in 10 runs (four earned) against the freshman who struck out seven in the five innings matchup.

    Rock Creek vs. Wabaunsee (Postponed)

The Mustangs picked up nine straight wins after taking down Clay Center on Friday, but their Tuesday night matchup at Wabaunsee was canceled due to severe weather in the area.

The Chargers (5-11) had no other matchups over the last week.

Against Clay Center, the Mustangs (17-3) put together two dominant performances, winning 10-3 and 12-3.

Brynna Zoeller earned the win in Game 1, allowing one earned run with seven strikeouts. In Game 2, Acelyn Rottinghaus shut down the Tigers with no earned runs and nine strikeouts.

    Riley County

The Falcons (4-9) completed one matchup on Tuesday, falling 12-2 against St. Marys before a delayed second game.

    Valley Heights

The Mustangs (11-5) led their opener against Republic County 1-0 before it was canceled due to severe weather on Tuesday.

    Blue Valley

The Rams (0-8) trailed Onaga 2-0 before having their contest delayed due to Tuesday’s severe weather.
