On Point Flooring, based in Rancho Cordova, has repositioned its business around floor removal and demolition as the primary service it offers to homeowners and contractors across Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado counties. Much loved Sacramento-area hobby store is closing after 50 years. What to know
For the past 50 years, a Sacramento-area hobby supply store has sold figurines, model kits, games, books and more. Viking Hobby will soon close its doors at 4713 El Camino Ave. in Carmichael. Owners Ken and Jessica Mosbaugh are bidding a bittersweet goodbye to their business and the community they love. What is Viking Hobby in Carmichael? “My husband started the shop 50 years ago,” said Jessica Mosbaugh, adding that he had recently celebrated his 79th birthday. Viking Hobby was originally “kind of military oriented”, which Mosbaugh attributed to the presence of two U.S. Air Force bases in the area at the time. Over the years, she said, the Sacramento County shop has stocked products for a wider community of hobbyists, who Mosbaugh called “all our wonderful customers.” Why is the Sacramento-area store closing? According to Mosbaugh, Viking Hobby is not closing because business is bad. Instead, she said, she and her husband want the time “to do things while we still can.” “We had tried for a few years to find someone who would buy the building and keep the shop going,” she said. “It would have been nice to find someone.” When will Viking Hobby shut its doors?
