Bus driver charged with criminal sexual conduct with girl, 15

A 55-year-old male bus driver, who lives in Virginia, faces up to 30 years in prison for alleged sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl, according to a criminal complaint filed in Sixth District Court in Virginia.

Jan Musch is charged with criminal conduct-1st degree-penetration or contact and soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct-prohibited act for alleged separate incidents in January and February.

Musch's place of employment was not made available.

Musch will make his first appearance in District Court at 1:15 p.m. on April 12.

The girl, 15, reported that Musch, who had been her bus driver for the school year, sexually assaulted her near her residence in St. Louis County, the statement of probable cause said.

She reported he often sent her messages and called her, including sending her pictures of his penis and would “sext’’ her asking her to perform oral sex on him. He left a voicemail to that effect, as well, and also gave her gifts, court records said.

The victim’s phone was taken for evidence and a voice message from Musch to the girl was found. Authorities later confiscated Musch’s cell phones (one personal and one for work). In a voluntary statement, Musch admitted giving the teen a kiss on the cheek once. When asked if he ever sent any inappropriate pictures to the victim, he responded with “no comment,’’ the criminal complaint said.

A Sheriff’s Office investigator located 135 outgoing phone calls (from Jan. 20-Feb. 26) on his personal phone to the student and “five photos a male took of his own penis.’’ There were also a few messages sent to her on his work phone.

According to the victim, she told authorities she and Musch began texting each other in mid-December when he had been sick. Students were also expected to let their bus driver know if they were not going to be riding the bus on a given day. The victim said that Musch quickly began to text and call her “non-stop,’’ often leaving voicemails. She said that most of the messages were Musch professing his love for her and saying that he wanted to be with her. In February 2024, Musch requested that she send him nude photos of herself, according to the criminal complaint. The victim “said she sent the photos because it was the only way to get him to stop asking.’’

“Shortly after this is when Musch sent Juvenile Female A (the victim) unsolicited photos of his penis and left the voicemail asking her to perform oral sex on him.’’

The complaint goes on to say, Juvenile Female A told a Sheriff’s Office deputy that on February 25, 2024, Musch contacted her and asked if he could stop by her residence. Juvenile Female A met him near some mailboxes and he “french kissed” her and touched her breasts under her clothes. Juvenile Female A said that Musch then put his hand down to her pants and digitally penetrated her vagina. Juvenile Female A said that it was “gross” and tried to focus on Musch’s dog that he brought with him while it was happening.
