New program brings career advisors to West Central IL schools
A national educational program is coming to Illinois, focusing on rural schools in the western part of the state. “Oftentimes our rural students in particular, maybe don't even know all the different opportunities that are available to them,” said Tracy Family Foundation Senior Programs Manager Angie Schalter. “Our counselors are so busy. They're at capacity. Our administrators are at capacity. No one has the dedicated time to be able to really sit down and meet one-on-one with our students. And so we feel super excited that we're able to kind of come forward and bring this approach and this model.”

QUINCY–There is no more grant money for funding the QHS STEP/PECT (Pre-Employment Career Training) Work Training program at QPS. “At this time, the district has not been able to locate other funding sources that would pay wages for students in a work training program through the district,” Special Education Director Eryn Beswick told Muddy River News via email. “The federal government does not have a contract with the state of Illinois to provide PECT services or funding for students. No district across that state has funding.”
