Westminster OM girls finish third as Knights, Indian Springs, Vincent track and field athletes earn All-State honors at 1A-3A state championship

CULLMAN – The Westminster at Oak Mountain Knights, Indian Springs and the Vincent Yellow Jackets put on some of their best performances of the season at the Class 1A-3A outdoor track and field state championships in Cullman from May 2-4, and they were rewarded for their efforts with high finishes in the standings.

Westminster took third place in the 3A girls team standings with 60 points and the boys came in sixth in the team standings with 37 points. In addition, Indian Springs finished eighth in the 3A girls team standings with 30 points.

Westminster’s Pippa Hussar claimed the 3A girls 800-meter championship with a personal-record run of 2:22.39.

Hussar also won the 3A girls 1600-meter run with a personal-record time of 5:25.16. Indian Springs’ Catherine Hinson joined her on the podium with a season-best time of 5:30.97 that earned her third place.

Westminster’s Weaver Caldwell took the win in the 3A boys 3200-meter run with his time of 9:57.91. Right behind him was Indian Springs’ Quinn Conroy in second place with a personal-record time of 9:58.83.

Two more Knights runners joined them in the top 10 as Alexander Montgomery came in fifth with a season-record time of 10:22.21 and Daniel Vansant finished in ninth with a time of 10:38.26.

Westminster’s girls 4×800-meter relay team earned the state championship with a time of 10:10.00, which was a personal record for the team.

Indian Springs’ Cara Huff earned second place in the 3A girls shot put with a new personal record throw of 38-02.00.

Huff also finished second in the 3A girls discus with another personal-record throw of 124-01. Olivia Montgomery of Westminster came in tenth in the same event with a throw of 78-09.

Westminster’s girls 4×400-meter relay team earned second place in the event with a personal-record time of 4:15.49.

The Knights also had another second-place relay finish as the boys 4×800-meter relay team earned a personal record with a time of 8:26.11.

Indian Springs’ Catherine Hinson came in second in the girls 3200-meter run after running a time of 11:55.10.

Westminster had a pair of top-five finishes in the 3A boys 1600-meter run behind personal record performances from Alexander Montgomery and Weaver Caldwell. Montgomery came in third with a time of 4:36.39 and Caldwell finished fourth with a time of 4:37.88.

Indian Springs’ Quinn Conroy came in sixth in the same event with a personal-record time of 4:39.80, and Westminster’s Quinn McCurry finished in tenth with a new personal record of 4:50.24.

Westminster’s Elizabeth Bandura came in third place in the 3A girls 300-meter hurdles with a new personal record of 48.01 seconds. Her teammate Reese Robbins finished in sixth with a time of 50.24 seconds.

Bandura took fourth place in the 3A girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.11 seconds.

Bandura also came in fourth in the 3A girls 400-meter dash with a personal-record time of 1:02.67. Helen Harbert of the Knights came in eighth with a personal record of her own of 1:03.40.

Vincent’s Jayden Roberts came in fourth in the boys 110-meter hurdles with his time of 15.79 seconds.

Westminster’s Micah Adams finished fifth in the 3A boys 800-meters with a time of 2:02.99, and his teammate Alexander Montgomery came in tenth with a time of 2:09.69.

Bandura took sixth for Westminster in the 3A girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.46 seconds.

Kendarius Chapman of Vincent finished in sixth in the Class 2A boys shot put with a mark of 41-02.50.

Westminster’s Olivia Montgomery came in seventh in the 3A girls javelin throw with a mark of 96-11.

The Westminster boys 4×400-meter relay team came in tenth with a personal-record time of 3:41.94.
