1 man injured in shooting in Vidalia

VIDALIA, Ga (WSAV)- A man is injured after a shooting that occurred in Vidalia on Sunday morning.

Around 5:24 a.m., the Vidalia Police Department (VPD) was dispatched to the 600 block of Scott Drive in reports of shots being fired.

While officers were still en route, Toombs County E911 advised officers that a male victim was lying in the doorways at a residence in the 700 block of Scott Drive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers arrived on the scene and discovered the victim and were able to identify the victim as Shawn Michael Edwards, 22, of Vidalia.

Officials did provide on-scene medical attention until the Toombs- Montgomery EMS arrived on the scene.

He was transported to Memorial Health-Meadows Hospital and was later transferred to Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta.

Edwards is still hospitalized and expected to be okay.

This incident is still under investigation.
