VERMILLION, S.D. (USD) – South Dakota (22-28, 7-10 Summit) defeated North Dakota State (17-36, 4-14 Summit) 9-3 in the final game of the three-game series in Vermillion.

The Coyotes took the first strike of the morning when Autumn Iversen doubled to bring in Alexia Terrazas . Gabby Moser hit a double prior to that to send Alexia to third base and set up the score, giving the Yotes a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

North Dakota State responded in the top of the third when Anjolee Anguilar-Beaucage hit a home run to tie it up at 1-1.

South Dakota scored three more runs in the bottom of the third, but it was the bottom of the sixth inning that blew the game wide open for the Yotes. Moser hit a triple to once again bring in Terrazas to make it 5-2 and start a chain of events that lead to a 9-2 lead for South Dakota.

The Bison were able to put one more run on the board in the top of the seventh but couldn’t bridge the cap, giving the Coyotes the 3-0 series sweep.

Kori Wedeking pitched the first four innings for the Coyotes, throwing five strikeouts and allowing just one run. McKenna Young closed the game out for the Yotes and threw two strikeouts.

The Summit League Tournament begins next week on Wednesday, May 8 in Brookings, S.D.
