    Ventura's Sarah Beckman wins two individual titles at Division 2 Swimming Championships

    Ventura High junior Sarah Beckman won two individual titles and was part of a relay team winner at the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 Swimming Championships on Friday at Mount San Antonio College.

    Beckman finished first in the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 49.01 seconds and in the 100 butterfly in 53.62 to earn her first two CIF-SS titles. Beckman, Emily Gonzalez, Juliet Lazowski, and Charlie Woo-Bloxberg won the 200 freestyle relay title in 1:37.49. The foursome finished second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:32.37.

    Woo-Bloxberg placed eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:06.46) and ninth in the 200 freestyle (1:54.64) as the Cougars finished third overall in the girls team standings with 153 points. Villa Park won the team title with 226 points.

    Newbury Park sophomore Megan Wang took second place in the 100 backstroke in 55.67 and was ninth in the 200 IM in 2:09.03. Wang, Stella Holzkamp, Caroline Nyborg and Maryam Attia finished 10th in 200 IM relay (1:53.26) and Wang, Cooper Eskigian, Attia and Nyborg were 12th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.16) as the Panthers finished 18th in the team standings.

    For Oaks Christian, Abbey Kantz finished seventh in the 100 freestyle (53.25) and eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:54.48). Kaila Ord placed 16th in the 100 butterfly (59.99). Nicole O'Neill, Ord, Maryam Maamoun and Kantz placed ninth in the 200 medley relay (1:56.71) and Ivana Malenkovic, Charlotte Donohue, Ord and Abbey Kantz were 11th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.05) as the Lions finished 17th in the team standings.

    BOYS

    Royal junior Aneesh Veeravatnam had the best finish by a local boys swimmer with a second-place effort in the 100 backstroke in 50.67 seconds. He also took fifth in the 100 butterfly (50.09).

    Veeravatnam, Daniel Wong-Moon, Matthieu Fresco and Tommy Shea finished sixth in the 200 medley relay (1:38.73) and Veeravatnam, Colton Castellano, Wong-Moon and Shea placed 16th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:17.27) for the Highlanders, who placed 18th as a team. Costa Mesa won the boys team title with 180 points.

    Paul Patterson of Camarillo placed fourth in 100 freestyle (47.45) and ninth in the 100 breaststroke (59.31). Kalani Martin, Jackson Mulchay, Stefano Pozzi and Patterson finished fourth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:12.16) and the foursome placed eighth in the 200 medley relay (1:40.26). Noah Takano, Jimmy Davis, Rylan Gabbard and Tom Singleton were 18th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.80) for the Scorpions, who finished eighth as a team with 91 points.

    Joshua McBride of Oaks Christian was fourth in the 200 IM (1:52.92) and 100 breaststroke (57.14). Oliver Hitch, McBride, Kai Johnson and Wyatt Williamson finished fifth in the 200 medley relay (1:37.63) and Tyler Lehman, Williamson, Hitch and McBride placed 17th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:17.43) for the Lions, who finished 19th as a team.

    Newbury Park's Duncan McIntosh, Wonjong Ko, Austin Thunell and Zack Bolte finished 17th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:29.76).
