Vallejo assault ruled a homicide after victim dies from injuries

(KRON) — An investigation into an assault in Vallejo turned into a homicide investigation when the victim died Tuesday from his injuries, Vallejo police said.

The assault happened on March 15 around 11:58 a.m. Police responded to reports of assault with a deadly weapon near the intersection of Lemon Street and Derr Street. The victim, whose name has not been released yet, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The victim died around 5 a.m. Tuesday. This was Vallejo’s fourth homicide of the year.

The motive and circumstances of the homicide are still under investigation, police said.

Vallejo police are also investigating their fifth homicide of the year, which happened on March 16. Officers responded to a home on the 2000 block of Garnet Circle around 12:21 p.m. There, they said they found a man dead at the scene. The motive and circumstance around this incident are unclear.
