    Urbana Police, Crime Stoppers looking for armed robbery suspect

    URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Urbana Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that happened two weeks ago and they are asking for help through Crime Stoppers in solving the crime.

    Officials said that at 11:15 p.m. on April 14, a man entered Perkins Restaurant at 1214 West University Avenue, approached the manager with a gun and demanded money from the business’ safe. The manager escaped out the back door unharmed while the suspect forced entry to the office and stole cash from inside. He left the restaurant on foot.

    The suspect was captured on camera while he was inside the restaurant. He was described as a Black male approximately 6′ 3″ in height, wearing a yellow and blue coat, green mask and gloves.

    This armed robbery is a separate crime from an armed robbery that happened in Urbana on Friday .

    Anyone who has information regarding this or any other crime in Champaign County is asked to submit their knowledge to Champaign County Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted by calling 217-373-8477, visiting Crime Stoppers’ website or using the “P3 Tips” app.

    All tips submitted to Crime Stoppers are electronically tripped of identifying information and processed by a third-party answering service, not law enforcement. Crime Stoppers will reward any tips that results in an arrest with up to $5,000 in cash.
