UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) — Chop Robinson has been one of Penn State’s most reliable pass rushers the past two seasons. He was a five-star prospect prospect coming out of high school and committed to Maryland and spent his freshman season with the Terrapins before transferring to Penn State, a decision he says was one of the best he ever made.

“Penn State changed my life, you know, being here with Coach Franklin and being around all the guys, just guys with the same mindset as you, you know, there’s only one way to get out of it and that’s greatness,” Robinson said. “So just being around those guys and having holding on, just pushing you is it’s a, it’s a blessing because you don’t really get that from, you know, everywhere else.”

In two seasons with Penn State Robinson was a force at defensive end recording 9.5 sacks, 17.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles so there is no question he’s expected to be an elite pass rusher at the next level.

“They see me as an outside linebacker defensive end,” Robinson said. “So, it really depends on the team I go to I may be in the four down front were two down front. So, it really depends on where I go.”

Chop’s stock jumped after the Draft Combine in January where his 4.48 40 yard dash was the second-fastest 40-yard dash among edge rushers and his 10 yard split was among the fastest since 2003.

“When I finished, I looked up and I didn’t see the time I was walking back,” Robinson said. “I saw these in the guys on the train with the axles just clapping and so happy for me. I knew… I knew I had something crazy. I was excited.”

Robinson is currently projected to be taken in the first round of the NFL Draft.
