University buys former grocery store site in Lafayette Square for $4M
ST. LOUIS — A university with multiple campuses has purchased a former grocery store site near Lafayette Square for $4 million. A.T. Still University, a health sciences university and medical school based in Kirksville, purchased 1500 Lafayette Ave., the site of one of the locations of local chain Fields Foods, which shut down last year, in January, according to sales data from Reonomy. The seller was St. Louis Food Hub LLC, which is organized by Chris Goodson, the owner of Fields Foods.
Illinois Lottery player wins first $10M grand prize on $50 scratch-off ticket
A certain game stood out to an Illinois lottery player when she went to purchase tickets recently - and it turned out to be for good reason. The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, won the first $10 million jackpot on the Illinois Lottery’s first-ever $50 scratch-off ticket, which is appropriately named $10 Million, according to a news release. The newly-minted millionaire made the purchase at the Casey's convenience store, 3499 Fosterburg Rd., in the city of Alton, along the Mississippi River, about 18 miles north of St. Louis.
Teenage boy shot in south St. Louis Wednesday afternoon
ST. LOUIS — A teenage boy was shot Wednesday afternoon in south St. Louis' Carondelet neighborhood. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded at 3:49 p.m. to the shooting on the 6100 block of Idaho Avenue. They found the boy, believed to be about 14 years old, with a gunshot wound to his thigh.

Roof damage at St. Louis animal shelter leaves dogs with anxiety, help needed
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A damaged roof has left a St. Louis City animal shelter with layers of dust and water on the dogs. Care STL posted on its Facebook page pictures of several holes in the roof and this is where they shelter dogs and rehabilitate them. Leaders say the fix is one that could take two weeks and they are already over capacity leaving dogs with even more anxiety.

ST CHARLES, Mo. — Two people were taken into custody after a SWAT team situation at a home in St. Charles, the city's police department told 5 On Your Side at the scene.
