Roselle Catholic Claims First Victory of 2024 In Preliminary Round of Union County Tournament
ROSELLE, NJ - Roselle Catholic’s Varsity Baseball Team came to play when it mattered most, defeating Rahway 12-3 in the Preliminary Round of the Union County Tournament on Wednesday. Freshman Armando Agusti led the Lions with three RBIs and two hits. Augusti, sophomore Lenny Peguero, senior Aidan Bell, and senior Bryce Beverly each had multiple hits in the contest. Peguero also led the way on the mound, pitching seven innings of two-run ball, with nine strikeouts. Christian Davis and Alex Pineda were the other sluggers to record a hit for the Indians. SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Union Catholic scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning for an 11-10 softball victory over Union on Wednesday. Francesca Licata and Leah Sims helped overcome a four-run deficit late against Union to win 11-7 in Union. The first two batters in the lineup for Brearley (10-7) collected six of the team’s 10 hits in a come-from-behind win against Union (2-13).
