Roselle Catholic Claims First Victory of 2024 In Preliminary Round of Union County Tournament

ROSELLE, NJ - Roselle Catholic’s Varsity Baseball Team came to play when it mattered most, defeating Rahway 12-3 in the Preliminary Round of the Union County Tournament on Wednesday.

Freshman Armando Agusti led the Lions with three RBIs and two hits. Augusti, sophomore Lenny Peguero, senior Aidan Bell, and senior Bryce Beverly each had multiple hits in the contest. Peguero also led the way on the mound, pitching seven innings of two-run ball, with nine strikeouts.

Senior Shawn Mackay led Rahway hitters with two RBIs on a two-run home run. Christian Davis and Alex Pineda were the other sluggers to record a hit for the Indians.

Next up for Roselle Catholic, is a home match against Colonia on May 3 at 4 p.m. The first round of the Union County Tournament will be at Westfield on May 4 at 2 p.m.
