Rakim Lubin, Former UConn Basketball Star, Dies at 28
It’s a sad day for the University of Connecticut basketball fans. Former UConn men’s basketball player Rakim Lubin has died. The alum was just 28 years old too. Lubin played for the team during the 2014-15 season. Growing up in Gadsen, Alabama, he earned the nickname “Rock” thanks to both his size and intimidating figure. He used that to his advantage while on the court. It let him go far. He became a three-star recruit after graduating from Buford High School in Georgia. Lubin also earned all-region honors and first-team all-state. He earned Georgia Sportswriters 3A layer of the Year. Ultimately, Lubind decided to go to UConn over Auburn and Georgia Tech.
