New retailer announces opening date at Lady Lake Crossing
A new retailer coming to Lady Lake Crossing has announced an opening date. Five Below will be opening on May 24 at 486 North U.S. Hwy. 27/441, next to the Dollar Tree, which is next to Kohl’s. Five Below is taking over the former location of Tuesday Morning, which closed last year.
Convicted felon headed back to prison after ruckus at square
A convicted felon is heading back to prison after a ruckus last year at Spanish Springs Town Square. Eric Allen Feliciano, 30, has been sentenced to 32 months with the Florida Department of Corrections as the result of a hearing earlier this month in Lake County Court. He will receive credit for 418 days already served in the Lake County Jail. He previously served time in prison for burglary and aggravated battery.

Villager who fell from golf cart at country club to lose driver’s license
A Villager who fell from a golf cart at a country club will her lose driver’s license. Jennifer Lynn Ducat, 55, of the Village of Bonnybrook, was sentenced this past week in Sumter County Court on a charge of driving under the influence. She will lose her driver’s license for six months, has been placed on probation for one year and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
Jealous Villager ordered into batterer’s intervention program
A Villager arrested after a jealous altercation with his girlfriend has been ordered into a batterer’s intervention program and told to get a substance abuse evaluation. Joseph Paul Aiello, 53, of the Village of Silver Lake, has been allowed to enter into a pre-trial intervention contract which would enable him to avoid prosecution on charges of tampering with a witness and criminal mischief. A charge of aggravated assault has already been dropped as part of the deal with the prosecutor’s office.
