Third suspect arrested in connection to Oakton murder
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - A third suspect has been arrested in connection to a homicide in Oakton. Several agencies teamed in the arrest of 20-year-old Wilmer Adli Guzman of Washington, D.C. Adli Guzman has been charged with malicious wounding by mob and is currently being held at the D.C. Central Detention Facility.
Football scandal triggers wave of school hires, abrupt removal of security chief
This past December, Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria posted an ad for a new head football coach. On Feb. 12, Darryl Overton, a championship football coach from across county lines at Freedom High School in Woodbridge, took the position, bringing with him an estimated 30-plus football players transferring to Hayfield from Freedom and at least three other area schools.

Fairfax County Police have arrested two men in connection with a homicide in Oakton on July 20. Police said they are still working to identify the victim, a Hispanic male between the ages of 20 and 30. Officers responded to the 9500 block of Route 29 at about 3:04 p.m. after a community member walking on a path found a body in a wooded area. Officers found a man with obvious trauma to the body after the person reported him unresponsive. He was declared deceased at the scene.

The cheers echoing throughout Bethesda’s Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart gym on Thursday were almost overwhelming. Tysons Mixed Market is Back and Kicks Off August 21
Tysons Community Alliance is partnering with The Boro and Diverse Markets Management once again to bring back the popular Tysons Mixed Market for its second year. The annual event launched last year as a way to support local businesses, further create a sense of place in Tysons, and bring the community together. Last year’s Mixed Market included over 50 vendors and brought out nearly 2,000 members of the community over the course of six weeks.

This new, captivating art piece titled Water and Warmth features aquatic creatures, woodland animals, mandalas, and children. Mural Masters, Inc artists, Shawn James and Charles Lawrance worked over a few weeks and completed the artwork at the end of June. Sanyiah Littlejohn figured out her best colors are green and gold, having seen plenty of success wearing those colors through three years at Lansdale Catholic. New Reston Community Center survey focuses on future of Lake Anne facility
Some Reston residents may soon get a survey about the Reston Community Center (RCC) in their mailbox. Launched on Wednesday (July 24), the survey will be conducted by the University of Virginia’s Center for Survey Research (CSR) to gather public input on the community center’s facilities, programs and services to guide future planning.
