A northeast wind around 10 mph will keep things feeling refreshing, though don’t put the umbrella away just yet. Here's a look back at three big historic hurricanes that rocked the resort town of Ocean City and other coastal communities further inland; hurricanes that led to massive flooding, beach erosion, endless rain and more destruction. MARYLAND'S DEADLY HOT SUMMER: Hottest summer ever is also Maryland's deadliest for heat on record Hurricane of 1933 The Category 1 hurricane of Aug. 22, 1933, wreaked havoc on the town of Ocean City. The tropical storm, which is credited with the creation of the Inlet and separation of Assateague from Ocean City, left a gale-torn town and rattled Lower Shore community in its wake. Flooded streets, ravaged homes and businesses, a railway system underwater; the town faced destruction of all kinds following the storm. The creation of the Ocean City Inlet, however, was later seen as a blessing. "At first the Inlet was small — less than 50 feet wide and less than
