OHS girls soccer secures tournament victory
Sitting at 5-6 on April 15, the Oakville girls soccer team’s young players weren’t about to let the season go down the drain. Since then, the Tigers have gone 8-2 in their last 10 games, and are 13-8 for the season. On top of that, the team clinched their second consecutive championship against Union at the Blue Cat Cup tournament in April.

St. Louis keeps AJ McCarron in quarterback picture for its next game
St. Louis Battlehawks quarterback AJ McCarron finished Saturday’s United Football League showdown with the Birmingham Stallions playing on an injured left ankle. The Battlehawks don’t know yet if the former Alabama All-American will be able to stay in the lineup for their game against the D.C. Defenders on Sunday, but coach Anthony Becht, when he met with reporters on Monday, did not say McCarron wouldn’t play.

Duchesne on the cusp of history as elevated culture leads to winning ways
When it comes to the outlook for the Duchesne baseball program, the Pioneers are in the midst of something of a paradigm shift. Under coach Mike Hollander, gone are the days of single-digit wins in a season. Instead, Duchesne is in territory the program hasn’t ventured into since 2006. Entering District play May 11, the Pioneers were on the precipice of the 20-win plateau – a first in some 18 years. Duchesne last won 20 games in a season in 2006 when that year’s team finished 22-4.

Webster On Wheels
First held in 2009, Webster On Wheels (WOW) is Webster’s only annual community bike riding event. Held on Sunday, May 5, at Bristol Elementary School, WOW brought the community — kids, parents and adults — together for a fun and safe bicycle event. “And there were absolutely no scrapes, cuts, bruises, falls or crashes,” said one of the event’s coordinators, Dave Buck. Sunday’s event included free bike safety checks, traffic safety tips from Webster police, and a stunt show from the St. Louis Sprockets.
