TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa dedicated the “LANK House,” the 21st home sponsored by Nick’s Kids Foundation, on Wednesday.

Built in honor of the 2023 SEC Championship, the home’s new residents Jinaka Chambers and her 11-year-old son Landon are thrilled to be a part of the process.

“It is very exciting. I am a huge Alabama fan and alumnus and I came [to Bama] in 2007 with Coach Saban,” Chambers said. “It means so much to me. It’s the last championship house and it’s very special. I love the team Jalen Milroe and Terrion for coming up with Lank.”

Chambers works for the City of Tuscaloosa and has contributed more than 250 hours of volunteer time to her home. She plans to purchase her house at fair market value through a 30-year, zero percent interest mortgage.

“This means no more paying rent,” she said. “Now rent is almost as expensive as a mortgage so I won’t have to spend thousands of dollars in rent. It will go towards something that will be mine.”

Coach Nick Saban and his wife Miss Terry attended the dedication ceremony for the home and are excited alongside the Chambers family.

“I would also like to thank our team who worked so hard last year to win the SEC championship and to be able to call this house the LANK House,” Terry said. “We are proud to give Miss Chambers and her son a beautiful and safe home in our community.”

On April 22, several members of Alabama’s 2023 SEC Championship team volunteered to build the Chambers family home, including quarterback Jalen Milroe. Mrs. Terry and the coaches’ wives landscaped the yard. Nick says helping families will always be his life’s mission.

“That’s always something we’ve always tried to do with Nick’s Kids and we are proud of what everybody’s done to make this happen for Miss Chambers and Landon,” Nick said. “So God bless you, thank you and Roll Tide!”
