The Turlock Police Department said the 17-year-old was arrested Monday following an investigation of a homicide that occurred on April 16 in the area of Wayside Drive between Kenwood and Olive Avenues. The area was blocked off for an investigation.

At around 6:58 p.m. on April 16, police said officers responded to reports of a shooting on Wayside Drive. When officers arrived, police said they located two gunshot victims and began rendering aid.

Police said one of the victims was struck multiple times in the arm, but his injuries were later determined be non-life threatening while being treated at a Modesto hospital.

The second victim was located by officers on the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures performed by emergency personnel, police said.

Police identified the slain victim as Amado “Dominic” Escobedo III, 19, of Ceres.

During an investigation, police said detectives determined that the persons involved knew each other and a shooting occurred after a brief altercation.
