TULARE, Calif, ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Madson Gardens, a development in Tulare that was funded through the Project Homekey program, hosted a welcoming ceremony Thursday.

Madson Gardens says they have a new supportive housing development located at 26442 Highway 99 in Tulare formerly known as Tagus Gardens and Virginia Motor Lodge.

UPholdings and RH Community Builders hosted the ceremony. The development was funded through the Project Homekey program, a state initiative to rapidly expand housing for individuals experiencing homelessness.

According to Madson Gardens, they first began in December 2022 and were completed in March 2024. Resident referrals are made through the Tulare County Continuum of Care’s Coordinated Entry System and the property is nearing full capacity.

“Madson Gardens is more than just a housing site. It is a collection of dreams fulfilled. Dreams of a safe place to sleep. Of having a little place to call your own. Being out of the elements and in a home,” said Noah Whitaker, Homeless Initiatives Program Coordinator at HHSA. “This project is the result of a lot of people and organizations working collaboratively to help these dreams become reality.”
