Here are this week's nominees for The Arizona Republic's boy’s and girl’s athletes of the week, sponsored by Diamond Kitchen & Bath. Nominees are based on performances in AIA-sanctioned sports. Vote for the top selection in each of our polls below. Voting will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday and winners will be announced the next day on azcentral.com and in The Arizona Republic on Saturday. Here are this week's nominees, followed by polls (scroll down on poll to vote):

Girls

Brooklyn Montgomery, Gilbert Campo Verde, track and field, Sr.: Threw a personal best of 156-6 feet in the discus at the True Grit Invite, which is the No. 5 all-time mark in state history.

Camryn Delancey, Gilbert Highland, track and field, So.: Ran 5:02.14 to win the 1,600 meters at the True Grit Invite, setting a new state lead in the event for the season.

Taya Kelly, Tucson Canyon Del Oro, softball, Jr .: Went 6-for-11 with 3 doubles, a home run and 7 RBIs as the Dorados went undefeated against Sahuarita Walden Grove, Tucson Sahuaro, Tucson Rincon University and Tucson Salpointe Catholic.

Boys

Bennett Vondrak, Tucson Desert Christian, baseball, Sr.: Pitched a complete-game 4-0 shutout against San Manuel for the 1A South Region title, striking out 17, a single-game school record. Also set a state record for RBIs in a game with nine against Patagonia.

Diego Aguirre-Stewart, Goodyear Millennium, track and field, Sr.: Ran a wind-aided time of 10.39 seconds in the 100 meters at the Agua Fria district meet, setting an all-conditions new state lead.

Lucas Schiermeyer, Phoenix Desert Vista, track and field, Jr.: Threw a personal best of 185-9 in the javelin at Southwest Javelin Showcase, moving up to the No. 2 in the state for the event.

Nominees are based on performances in AIA-sanctioned sports. Polls are posted on Monday and voting closes at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Results are announced the next day on azcentral.com and in The Arizona Republic on Friday. Nominees are chosen by Republic sports staff, with input from coaches and readers.
