I-79 on-ramp to close in Harrison County beginning next week

The road closure will be on WV 58, on the Interstate 79 southbound on-ramp, at the 117 exit (Anmoore), from 6:00 P.M. Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, until 6:00 A.M. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026.

The problem envisioned in August came like a slowly approaching storm that could be seen, the thunder rumbling heard, but no solution preventing its onset possible. Jamie Kosick reported that the school system, after attrition, would for 2026 “run short of drivers” for school buses. In early October, Rosie Linton, a fifth grade student at Mountaineer Elementary School, shared that “in the past two weeks, so the last 10 days of school Mountaineer Elementary has had a bus issue five of those days. So whether a bus did not run at all during the day or it was able to run in the morning and not in the afternoon.”
