Catholic survives against Ritchie, moves on to sectional final
PARKERSBURG – While it may not be March quite yet, tournament basketball and its madness are already here. On Tuesday, #10 Parkersburg Catholic hosted Ritchie County for a AA sectional semifinal game. While Ritchie County led throughout most of the game, the Crusaderettes were able to hang in there and force overtime, winning by a final of 46-43. Despite a slow start, Parkersburg Catholic clawed back and found itself up 39-37 with two and a half minutes left to play in regulation. Ritchie County’s Chelsie Jeffrey then tied things up at 39 with a make. A pair of made free throws by Seneca Lang of the Crusaderettes put Catholic back on top as time continued to dwindle. However, Rebel Elsa Law responded with two makes from the charity stripe to knot things back up at 41. Parkersburg Catholic held the ball in order to drain the clock and get the last shot, but were unable to get one off before the buzzer. The Rebels and Crusaderettes were headed to overtime.

West Virginia Tax Division hosting meetings with county commissioners affected by natural gas tax evaluations

To address millions of tax dollars that were unaccounted for due to a clerical error from the State Tax Office, representatives have been in contact with commissioners from the counties to discuss the process for receiving funds entitled to them. Hearings have been hosted with commissioners from Brooke, Tyler, Harrison, and Monongalia counties, with more meetings scheduled for Doddridge, Marshall, Plesants, and Wetzel county representatives later in February.
