STEWART — Facing off for the second time in three days, Trimble would use two different five-run innings to help cruise to a 10-2 victory over Federal Hocking on the road on Wednesday afternoon.

Picking up the 10 runs on just eight hits, the Tomcats (13-4, 6-3 Tri-Valley Conference-Hocking) were led by Chayse Henry at the plate, finishing with a perfect 3-3 day at the plate, driving in and scoring a pair of runs while also drawing a walk. Chase Patton and Bennie Warren would both grab a pair of RBIs on one hit while Will Sharp, Trent Pettit, Paul Sharp, Cole Wright and Bradley Cahoe all picked up a hit as well.

On the mound, Wright picked up the win after four innings of one-hit ball, allowing two unearned runs while striking out two and walking four. Caleb Cahoe would put up a fantastic outing in relief, striking out four in three hitless innings to help cap off the win.

For the Lancers (0-16, 0-9 TVC-Hocking), Brody Rutter would highlight the afternoon with a hit and a run scored. Glen Wilkes would also score a run for Federal Hocking.

On the mound, Rutter would also get the start, throwing six innings of eight-hit ball, allowing nine earned runs while walking seven and striking out three. Trent Wilkes would toss a scoreless inning in relief.

After a quiet couple of innings from both sides to start the afternoon, Trimble started the barrage quickly into the third. After the first three men of the inning reached base, Henry would rip a two-run double to left field to open up scoring. Consecutive RBI singles from Warren and Sharp just after would make it a 5-0 game.

Federal Hocking would then take advantage of some miscues from the Tomcats’ defense in the bottom of the fourth, scoring a pair of runs to cut it to a 5-2 game.

The score would then stay stagnant all the way up until the final inning of the afternoon. Once again loading the bases up with no outs to start the seventh, a hit by pitch followed by an RBI single from Patton would extend the lead to 8-2. One more hit batsmen and sacrifice fly later and the Tomcats suddenly held an eight-run advantage going into the final at-bats of the night.

Cahoe would send the Lancers down in order in the seventh, securing the divisional victory for Trimble.
