Aiken Master Gardeners Association awards two local high school students with scholarships
Two local high school students have been awarded $1,500 scholarships by the Aiken Master Gardeners Association. The group offers scholarships each year to high school students who have been admitted to a college and plan to major in a field relating to agriculture or horticulture. Scholarships are a minimum of $1,000 and will only apply to each student’s freshman year.

Volunteers help clean up Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Organizers of a Magnolia Cemetery cleanup say hundreds of people showed up all ages to help clean up the historic site. From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, volunteers showed up with brooms, shovels and other supplies to help. The land houses five Jewish cemeteries and a Greek cemetery along with a Masonic lodge and several church sections.

Garden show is ‘educational tool’ to Aiken neighbors
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A garden show in Aiken is bringing some of Aiken’s most beautiful gardens and plants to life. The Aiken Garden Show only comes every other year. “We have six beautiful gardens, we have over 20 vendors and then we have a juried flower show, which means they’ve been judged, and they can see all that and buy a ticket to see the gardens,” said Peggy Thome, president of Aiken Council of Garden Clubs.
Edgefield crews battle house fire on Old Chappell Ferry Road
