VIPIR 6 ALERT DAY: Strong to severe storms possible Saturday
Friday night update: It’s a cloudy and muggy night across the CSRA, with temperatures falling into the mid-60s. A few showers and storms will pop up overnight. We don’t anticipate any severe weather during this round. A VIPIR 6 ALERT DAY is in place for Saturday. There is some uncertainty with the timing and coverage of storms on Saturday. As of now, the afternoon appears to be the best bet. The main concern will be damaging winds and large hail. Another round of showers and storms arrives on Sunday. Although the intensity of that round doesn’t appear to be as strong, we will closely monitor any trends. Looking ahead to next week, we get a brief break from the action early in the week as high pressure builds back in. Temperatures will go from the upper 70s on Monday to the mid-80s on Wednesday. The nice weather won’t last, though, as a cold front will bring the return of showers and storms on Friday.
