BURGAW, N.C. (WECT) – Director, producer, writer and actor Samm-Art Williams passed away on Monday, May 13, at 78 years old. Williams was from Burgaw and worked on dozens of episodes for shows including Martin and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. His theatre comedy Home performed by the Negro Ensemble Company was nominated for a Tony Award, and it is being performed to this day on Broadway.
