OMAHA, NE ( KSNT ) – A man convicted of killing a woman whose body was found south of Topeka was sentenced to life in prison.

On Thursday, May 30 Scott was sentenced to life in prison for murder and 45 to 60 years in prison on two other charges. He has received credit for 532 days served, according to KETV in Omaha .

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office of Nebraska announced in December 2022 that Aldrick L. Scott, 47, of Topeka was taken into custody in Belize. He was called a person of interest in the disappearance of Cari Allen, 43, of Nebraska .

According to KETV, there was overwhelming evidence that Scott stalked and murdered Allen in 2022. Prosecutors said Scott drove from Topeka to Nebraska, followed Scott through SnapChat maps and waited for more than an hour at her home.

The defense argued that Scott acted in self-defense and ran in panic. Scott took the stand and said the two struggled over a gun before it went off, killing Allen, according to KETV.
