    Construction begins for $1M north Topeka apartment complex

    TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – Mayor Mike Padilla attended a groundbreaking ceremony for a new $1 million affordable housing complex being built in north Topeka.

    At 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30 Padilla and the Topeka Community Foundation broke ground at the new North Topeka Apartments site at 117 NE US HWY 24. The site will provide 25 affordable housing units to the community. This building will contain new units providing 216 square feet of space at the cost of $550-$600 per month, including utilities.

    Foreclosure threat looms over Heartland Motorsports Park

    Alliance Bank provided $700,000 and the Topeka Community Foundation is contributing $300,000 to the development project.
