Murder charges filed in deadly Topeka stabbing attack

TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – The Shawnee County District Attorney is charging a man after a deadly stabbing in the Potwin neighborhood earlier this week.

The Shawnee County DA’s Office announced Friday, April 19 that Robert Fapp, 38, is charged with several counts in connection to the stabbing situation. These charges include:

  • Murder in the first degree; premeditation
  • Murder in the first degree; inherently dangerous felony
  • Two counts of mistreatment of a dependent adult or elder person; physical injury, unreasonable confinement or unreasonable punishment
  • Attempted murder in the first degree; premeditation
  • Aggravated battery; intentional, great bodily harm

Katie Garceran, a spokeswoman for the Shawnee County DA’s Office, says officers were called on April 16 to the 400 block of SW Woodlawn Ave. on reports of a stabbing in progress. Upon arrival, officers found one person bleeding heavily.

Police entered a home in the area and allegedly found Robert attacking another individual. Officers subdued Robert and took him to the Law Enforcement Center. Both victims were taken to a local hospital with one, Ross Fapp, 79, dying of his injuries.
