IDA TWP. (WWJ) — Charges have been filed against a man accused of robbing a party store in Monroe County last weekend.

Anthony Cline of Monroe is being held on $500,000 bond after he was arrested in Toledo on Tuesday, several days after he allegedly robbed the Ida Party Stop.

Around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, the suspect walked into the party store in Ida — about 12 miles north of the Ohio border — wearing a facemask, coveralls and gloves, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities say the suspect “implied a weapon” as he demanded money from a store employee. After getting the money, he allegedly ran out of the store, got into a vehicle that was waiting nearby and took off.

Officials did not say how much money he got away with.

After talking with numerous witnesses, responding deputies were able to develop Cline as a suspect and a possible suspect vehicle with a partial Michigan license plate. Using FLOCK license plate reader technology, investigators were able to identify the entire license plate and found that it had fled to Toledo, officials said.

Investigators were able to obtain an arrest warrant from the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday and Cline, 32, was arrested the following day in Toledo, with the help of the Toledo Police Department’s SWAT Unit. He was held at the Lucas County Jail.

Cline, 32, was arraigned Thursday on one count of armed robbery and given a $500,000 bond. If released, he will be ordered to wear a GPS tether.

Authorities are asking anyone who knows something about the robbery to call the Monroe County Sheriff’s detective bureau at 734-240-7537.
