Cedar Rapids — In Cedar Rapids, a portion of Zika Avenue Northwest will close to roadway traffic starting on Tuesday, May 28th. That closure stretches between 20th Street Northwest and 18th Street Northwest near the Ellis Golf Course. Construction workers are closing off that area to do preparation work for roadway improvements. That closure is expected to last about two weeks.

Motorcyclist injured in single-vehicle crash near Palo
PALO, Iowa (KCRG) - At approximately 7:00 pm, emergency crews responded to the intersection of Bear Creek Rd and Strawn Rd for a report of an accident. Investigators say a 21-year-old was traveling eastbound on a motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve and laid the motorcycle down on the pavement coming to a rest in the westbound lane.

Cedar Rapids taking protective action as river levels rise
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - With the Cedar River levels expected to rise this weekend, city officials are taking steps to protect residents from potential flooding. Officials say that the action stage for the Cedar River is 10 feet and that minor flood stage is 12 feet. The river is expected to crest at 13.2 feet on Saturday.
