Local contractor holds ‘signing day’ for high school apprentices
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Several part-time apprentices will become full-time workers after a signing event with a local mechanical and fire protection contractor. Eight soon-to-be high school graduates will convert to new roles at J.F. Ahern: Mechanical, Fabrication & Fire Protection Services. Company officials say they have focused on recruitment as the construction industry faces workforce shortages to provide the next generation of workers.

WisDOT buys land key to new I-41 interchange, South Bridge Connector project for nearly $4M
DE PERE - Plans to construct a new Interstate 41 interchange and the first segment of Brown County’s long-sought South Bridge Connector route took a step forward this month. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation on May 1 and 2 purchased a combined 37.9 acres of land west of I-41 along Orange Lane, in the town of Lawrence. The land purchases are two of WisDOT's larger land acquisitions related to the I-41 expansion project between Appleton and De Pere and the county's South Bridge Connector plan, said Missy Kok, WisDOT's I-41 Project spokesperson.

Green Bay resident becomes first Wisconsinite to receive gene therapy treatment for hemophilia A
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A Green Bay resident has become the first Wisconsinite to receive a gene therapy treatment for hemophilia A since it was approved by the FDA in June. David Novak, a patient at the Hemophilia Outreach Center in Green Bay, received the gene therapy infusion, called ROCTAVIAN, on Thursday, May 9th. He’s also only the second person in the nation to receive this treatment.
U.P. mail will be processed 100 miles away in Wisconsin under new USPS plan
IRON MOUNTAIN, MI -- Mail in the Upper Peninsula will now be rerouted to Green Bay, Wisconsin for processing before being distributed back in Michigan. On Tuesday, May 7 the United States Postal Service (USPS) moved forward with operational changes at the Iron Mountain Processing and Distribution Center, including transferring mail processing outgoing operations to a facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
