Local Florence Junior Teams and Track Club Athletes to Compete in State and National Championships This Weekend
The Florence Athletics Department is preparing for youth sports competitions on December 9th. The Florence Junior Football League's 8u and 10u teams will participate in the South Carolina Recreation & Parks Association Football State Championships at West Florence High School.
Tuesday's High School Basketball Roundup: West Florence, Darlington, Marion, and Other Teams Secure Wins
• In boys' high school basketball, West Florence beat Cardinal Newman with a score of 49 to 41, with Josh Gamble scoring 16 points for West Florence. • Other notable boys' games include Darlington's win over Central (71-37), Crestwood's victory over Manning (80-40), and Laurence Manning's defeat of Florence Christian (61-51).

South Florence High School junior defensive lineman Amare Adams, the No. 1 football recruit in South Carolina, committed to Clemson on Sunday. Camden dug deep, stayed in the game, never gave up, and came from behind in the last minute to send this State Championship game into OT tied at 42. Both teams scored a TD in the first OT period. Daniel first and they made the PAT giving them a 49-42 lead. Next, Camden scored a TD in two plays bringing them to 48 points and down by one. Coach Rimpf elected to go for two points and end the game. QB Grayson White who had been very successful all night with a QB draw play but was stopped at the one yard line this time This guts and glory play meant defeat Camden, 49-48, in the most exciting of the five SCHSL Championship Games at SC State's Oliver Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg. A four-star defensive lineman recruit has been crystal balled to Clemson. Four 247Sports insiders have crystal balled four-star defensive lineman Amare Adams to commit to Clemson. Adams is the No. 12 defensive lineman prospect in the class of 2025 and the No. 1 overall recruit in South Carolina. He will announce his commitment on Sunday. The Florence, South Carolina, native holds 15 offers, including Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, South Carolina, LSU and Louisville. Clemson has four verbal commitments to its 2025 class: four-star running back Gideon Davidson, four-star offensive tackle Easton Ware, three-star quarterback Blake Hebert and three-star tight end Logan Brooking. The state’s top prospect in the 2025 class DT Amare Adams (66 280) of South Florence is set to announce his college commitment sometime late Sunday afternoon or early evening. Adams plans to simply post his decision on social media. USC, Clemson, LSU, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida State and Georgia were the schools he named as his favorites when he put out his short list on July 11th. He went to games this season at USC, Clemson, Florida State, Alabama and Georgia. Adams has said little about his decision this seek.
