Gracie Arnold, a 15-year-old from Florence, has been named Miss South Carolina Teen Volunteer. She plans to use this platform to inspire other young girls in the state. Besides her duties as a title-holder, Arnold remains committed to her studies and college preparation. She's actively involved in the Miss South Carolina program, an initiative that supports young women through scholarships and empowerment programs.

Florence is currently upgrading all residential utility accounts to radio-read meters. More than half of the meters have been converted. The remaining installations will start on Monday, October 2, 2023, by Advanced Meter Installation (AMI), a city contractor. The work is expected to take a year.
