Mobile men appear for capital murder arraignment in death of 14-year-old
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Three people accused of killing a 14-year-old girl who was riding in a car in Midtown appeared for an arraignment Wednesday on capital murder charges. Two of the defendants, Lamonyae Laburn Forrest, 20, of Mobile and Semaj James, 18, of Mobile, asked to be treated as “youthful offenders.” A judge set a hearing for June 17. Under state law, defendants who were younger than 21 at the time of the offense are eligible to be considered for “youthful offender” status, which results in the sealing of their court records and limits any punishment to three years in prison.

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — A Flood Watch is now in effect from midnight tonight until 1PM Saturday. Waves of downpours are expected to track across the area through Saturday afternoon. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are in the forecast, with localized totals of 6+ inches possible. These totals, in addition to the wet conditions already in place from the previous rainfall from earlier this week could result in flooding.
