Special guests stopped to read to children at CVUSD Preschool in Thousand Oaks Friday morning for the eighth annual Take 5 and Read to Kids campaign.

The initiative encourages literacy with five minutes of reading daily to children from young babies to age 5. This year's guests were Danielle Borja, president and CEO of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff and Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, D-Thousand Oaks. CVUSD Preschool operates within the Conejo Valley Unified School District.

Additional reading events were scheduled through Monday. To learn more about the campaign, visit first5ventura.org .
