A Pokey for Porky: Camden Man Takes Aim at Feral Hogs with Hawg Stopper Pen
Randy Kelley was in his deer stand near Camden 22 years ago when he spotted an 8-point buck and two does feeding nearby. He watched for a moment and then saw a female feral hog with piglets attack the buck. The hog ran the deer off, and Kelley shot and killed the sow with his rifle.
Kingsland Receives $500,000 Wastewater Grant
KINGSLAND - Kingsland Mayor Sharon Crosby (third from right with check) recently traveled to the Little Rock to receive a $500,000 Community Development Block grant from Gov. Sarah Sanders (center next to Crosby) in a presentation at the state capitol. The Arkansas Economic Development Commission received more than $8.4 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban in Community Development Block grants that were awarded to 17 communities across the state. These grants, according to the governor’s office, were awarded under the General Assistance set-aside, part of Arkansas’ $17.8 million FY 2023 formula grant allocation, which is designed to provide communities the opportunity to apply for a variety of non-housing public facility and public infrastructure projects. Crosby said the money will be used replace a pump and make other improvements to\he City of Kingsland’s wastewater treatment facility.
