5A state track and field: Depth powers Maple Mountain boys, Timpview girls to team titles
PROVO — Maple Mountain coach Jeff Lake admitted that the 4x400-meter relay team that needed to clinch the Golden Eagles' first boys track and field title since 2012 wasn't necessarily his A-choice lineup. But the B-squad performed like A-students. Logan Sircable, Austin Byers, Connor Allen and Tyson Pugmire finished...
6A state track and field: Myles, Corner Canyon boys reset record book in 5th straight title
PROVO — Jerome Myles had never run track before this season, but once the Corner Canyon junior opted for the team, he was off and running at a record-breaking pace. Myles ran the fastest 100-meter dash in state history with a 10.36 seconds, breaking a 43-year-old record as the Chargers ran all over the 6A boys track and field state meet en route to a fifth consecutive championship Saturday at BYU's Robison Track Complex.
Whitewater kayakers race down the Provo River before flows drop
PROVO — A ragtag group of 13 whitewater kayakers assembled below Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon Saturday to take advantage of the slim window in which the Provo River turns into a fast-moving series of churning rapids, and boaters duke it out in the Provo River Race. "We...
Attorney: Springville PD Ignored Fired Officer's Evidence in Arrest Case
SPRINGVILLE, Utah (KUTV) — New developments in a continuing 2News Investigation after a dogged fight with Springville Police for body camera video they initially outright and wrongfully denied but then produced. The footage is from the body camera of Officer Kati Powell who was fired from the Springville Police Department on December 1, 2023. The video raises serious questions about police misconduct after a superior officer withheld information from Powell who was conducting a traffic stop that turned into a DUI investigation. What’s more, our investigation found that the police department also withheld that same evidence that could have exonerated the young man she arrested, and the potential misconduct carried over to the courtroom begging the question: was a young man wrongfully prosecuted.
Louisville lands BYU big man Noah Waterman in the transfer portal
Transfer big man Noah Waterman became the second BYU player to leave Provo and head to Kentucky – not to follow Mark Pope in Lexington, but rather to join Pat Kelsey’s new look Louisville squad. Waterman entered the transfer portal on the last day of eligibility, 30 days after Pope took the job at Kentucky. The 6’11 forward averaged 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds last year for the Cougars, shooting 37% from three on 4.7 attempts per game. Waterman is well travelled, having spent his freshman season as a redshirt at Niagara before playing two years at Detroit and the past two at BYU. Waterman is the second big man addition for coach Kelsey this past week, joining former South Florida forward Kasean Pryor. Pryor and Waterman will each play big roles in the frontcourt, with another BYU product – Aly Khalifa – set to redshirt next season with a knee injury. Kelsey’s new look frontcourt helps complete an entirely new roster that includes former Wisconsin guard Chucky Hepburn, Washington guard Koren Johnson, Colorado wing J’Vonne Hadley, and James Madison wing Terrence Edwards as this program looks to make the NCAA Tournament and put the past two disastrous seasons in the rearview mirror.

4A softball: Wallace wills Ridgeline to 2nd title in 3 years
PROVO — One year ago, Ridgeline's softball team watched in heartache as the Riverhawks took Game 1 of the 4A championship series before Bear River rallied to win back-to-back games for the Bears' 11th state title. Anne Wallace wasn't going to let that happen again. The junior catcher went...
