Orem treatment center for parolees dealing with substance abuse to open by the end of the year
The Utah Department of Corrections will open the doors to the new Timpanogos Community Treatment Center by the end of this year. Located in Orem at 748 N. 1340 West, this facility is the first correctional treatment facility in Utah County and south of the Point of the Mountain. It will begin as a center for those on parole for substance abuse and, as needed in the future, will expand to programs for sex offenders on parole.

Instruction: If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Target Area: Lower Washington County; Southern Mountains; Southwest Utah. A powerful thunderstorm is expected to affect central Washington and southwestern Iron Counties until 7:45 PM MDT. At 6:53 PM MDT, Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm located 7 miles northwest of Quail Creek State Park, or 25 miles west of Zion National Park. The storm is moving north at a speed of 55 mph. The primary hazards associated with this storm include wind gusts of up to 50 mph and pea-sized hail. The information is based on radar indications. Gusty winds could potentially cause tree limb damage and move unsecured objects, leading to minor damage outdoors. The following areas will be impacted: St. George, Washington, Hurricane, New Harmony, Sand Hollow State Park, Quail Creek State Park, Toquerville, Leeds, Pinto, Pine Valley, and the section of Interstate 15 between mile markers 7 and 25. The maximum hail size expected is 0.25 inches, and the maximum wind gust anticipated is 50 mph.

Local Woman Arrested for Stabbing Hitchhiker in Spanish Fork Canyon
A 32-year-old woman from Grand Junction, Colorado, identified as Linda Rose Harman, is being held in the Utah County Jail after allegedly stabbing a man who had offered her a ride. The incident took place on September 25, 2023, at the Tie Fork rest area on Hwy 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon, Utah. The victim, a man from Oklahoma, was traveling to Tooele County when he picked up Harman, who was walking on the highway near Grand Junction.
