Scottie Scheffler Tees Up for Trial After PGA Championship Arrest
The world’s top-ranked men’s golfer is gearing up to go to trial over his surprise arrest before the PGA Championship in Louisville on Friday morning. Scheffler, who was briefly thrown behind bars after a scuffle with a police officer outside Valhalla Golf Club, will plead not guilty at a court appearance set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, his lawyer said. “We are going to plead not guilty and get the next court date. Could the charges be dropped? Anything is possible,” Steve Romines, who is representing the champion golfer, told reporters. “He didn’t do anything wrong. It was just a big miscommunication. It was a kind of perfect storm of circumstances.” Scheffler was charged with felony second-degree assault on a police officer, two misdemeanors, and reckless driving, according to WAVE. A “misunderstanding of traffic flow” caused Scheffler to try to drive past the cops as they were handling a traffic-related fatality further down the road, ESPN reported.Read it at Daily MailRead more at The Daily Beast.
Alito’s Upside-Down Flag Fuels Anxieties Over Supreme Court’s Trump Ties
The revelation that an upside-down flag flew at the home of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is raising questions about whether justices whose spouses express doubt in the integrity of elections should recuse themselves from cases related to the Jan. 6 insurrection and Donald Trump’s part in it. Alito is now the second conservative justice on the nation’s highest court to be tied to MAGA election denial—the wife of Clarence Thomas, Ginni Thomas, exchanged several texts with Trump’s chief of staff, urging him to overturn the election. In both cases, the justices pointed to their spouses’ individual points of view, and neither have taken steps to recuse themselves from cases concerning Trump or Jan. 6 despite calls to step down. Recusal is ultimately up to the judges alone, although that hasn’t stopped prominent critics from calling for an enforceable code of ethics or term limits. “None of them have clean hands,” Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the ranking member of the House Judiciary committee, said on MSNBC on Saturday in reference to the Alito reveal.Read it at PoliticoRead more at The Daily Beast.

Firebrand Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) continued to take no prisoners on a Friday night CNN appearance, doubling down on comments she made during a contentious House Oversight Committee hearing on Thursday night. The meeting, which was supposed to be about contempt-of-Congress proceedings for Attorney General Merrick Garland, went off the rails when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) suddenly attacked Crockett’s appearance during a hostile exchange of barbs on the committee floor, suggesting that Crockett’s “fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”The comments drew immediate outrage from Democratic reps including committee ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who...
Three U.S. Doctors Refuse to Leave Gaza Hospital While Israel Blocks New Aid Workers
Three U.S. doctors remain in Gaza’s European Hospital in Khan Younis, after refusing to leave with a group of American and British humanitarian aid volunteers who were evacuated on Friday. The Americans insisted on staying until they could be replaced, but since Israel seized the Rafah border crossing last week, no humanitarian aid or workers have been able to enter Gaza. Aid workers from Egypt, Jordan, Australia and other countries with less political power, were reportedly not offered the option to evacuate, and still remain in the hospital. “A decision for some of us to stay was consistent with our...
‘Jeopardy’ Searches for Host for Spinoff Series
Jeopardy! has announced that it is launching a spinoff series on Amazon Prime and is on the hunt for a host. The Sun reports that neither current host Ken Jennings nor Mayim Bialik, who was fired from hosting duties, will be at the helm. The show, called Pop Culture Jeopardy! will keep the classic answer-and-question format, however, its categories will cover music, movies, sports and all elements of popular culture. The biggest change is that three-person teams will compete against one another rather than individual players. The Sun reports that the favorites to host the new series include Katie Nolan, who was runner-up in the Celebrity Jeopardy! tournament, Buzzy Cohen, who hosted some recent episodes in 2024, Sam Buttrey, who was a finalist in the 2022 Tournament of Champions and the 2023 Masters spinoff, and Lavar Burton, who was a fan favorite to replace Alex Trebek. A premiere date for Pop Culture Jeopardy! will be announced at a later date.Read more at The Daily Beast.

Bill Maher has spoken out about Jackass star Steve-O’s recent comments that he had to turn down a request to appear on the comedian’s “Club Random” podcast because Maher refused to not smoke weed during the interview. Suspect Accused of Assassination Attempt on PM Appears in Court
The man accused of attempting to assassinate Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has been ordered to remain behind bars Saturday. Fico is in serious but stable condition after surviving multiple gunshots, officials said. On Saturday, Minister of Health Zuzana Dolinkova said Fico had undergone a two-hour surgery Friday to remove dead tissue from multiple gunshot wounds which had “contributed to a positive prognosis”. Slovakia’s Specialized Criminal Court ordered that the suspect remain detained amid fears he could flee or carry out other crimes if he is freed. Prosecutors have asked that the man’s name not be released but unconfirmed media reports said he was a 71-year-old retiree known as an amateur poet. Fico, 59, was shot in the abdomen as he greeted supporters Wednesday in the town of Handlova, officials said. The suspect fired five rounds, striking the prime minister multiple times, before being tackled to the ground and arrested.Read more at The Daily Beast.
Country Star Sues Estranged Wife Over Instagram Post: Report
Zac Brown has reportedly taken legal action against his estranged wife, claiming an Instagram post she shared has severely damaged his reputation. TMZ reports that the 45-year-old has filed a lawsuit claiming 33-year-old model Kelly Yazdi violated a confidentiality agreement she had signed with him. The “Colder Weather” singer wants a temporary restraining order that will force her to remove the post. The court has yet to make a ruling on the matter, the outlet added. Opinion: Diddy Defenders Can’t Unsee Disturbing Assault Video
“Time tells truth.”That was the cryptic Instagram post left by disgraced hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs just days before surveillance video would reveal the truth—that he physically attacked his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016.The disturbing footage—first obtained by CNN—shows Ventura trying to leave a hotel room with her belongings before being assaulted by Combs. Diddy, who was wearing only a bath towel wrapped around his waist, is seen in the disturbing video grabbing, shoving, dragging, and kicking Ventura on the floor. Such filmed abuse corroborates the formal complaint Ventura filed last year against Combs, in which she cited the attack...

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has revealed why it won’t be prosecuting Sean “Diddy” Combs after horrific footage showed him brutally attacking his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at a hotel. The office said in an Instagram post that because the alleged attack happened on March 5, 2016, the window to prosecute has lapsed. California’s statute of limitations for simple assault is one year, while aggravated assault is three years. “We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles. We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch....
From ‘Billions’ to Broadway: How Acting ‘Saved’ Corey Stoll
As the chit-chatting, bicycling, late spring afternoon life of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park swirled around us, Corey Stoll spoke excitedly about the need to be reminded multiple times a day of his own mortality. “My favorite app is called WeCroak,” the actor said, smiling wide, holding up his cellphone. “Five times a day it sends you an alert that says, ‘Don’t forget, you’re going to die.’ It’s the best thing. Inevitably, it pings while I’m in the middle of some petty nonsense in my head. Then I get this alert, and it’s like, ‘Oh yep, it really doesn’t matter.’”Mortality isn’t just...
Did ‘SNL’ Quietly Shelve Its Trump Impression?
If you are among the more than half of Americans not paying much attention to Trump’s hush money trial, two pieces of news may still have managed to make their way to you: that Trump appears to be farting quite frequently, and he also seems to be falling asleep in the courtroom. What could be funnier? Everyone loves a good fart joke. But if you tuned into Saturday Night Live this past week, their flatulence-themed sketch wasn’t James Austin Johnson’s Trump offering his characteristic word-salad over increasingly loud fart noises. Instead, it was host Maya Rudolph as a throw-back Hollywood starlet...
