Driver killed in late afternoon vehicle accident

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO-WAWV)– An accident in Terre Haute, claims the life of a driver.
The Terre Haute Police Department posted on its Facebook page, that the accident took place at the intersection of Erie Canal Road and Lockport Road at approximately 6 pm Tuesday.

One driver died from injuries.

Another driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

As of 7:30 pm, Erie Canal Road was closed between Voorhees Street and Hulman Street for several hours, to facilitate the work of THPD Detectives and Crash Team Investigators. The closure is expected to last for several hours. Note: Erie Canal reopened around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Further information regarding the accident will be released as permitted and after next of kin has been properly notified.
