    Here are this week's nominees for The Arizona Republic's boy’s and girl’s athletes of the week, sponsored by Diamond Kitchen & Bath. Nominees are based on performances in AIA-sanctioned sports. Vote for the top selection in each of our polls below. Voting will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and winners will be announced the next day on azcentral.com and in The Arizona Republic on Friday. Submit a weekly nominee at static.azcentral.com/sports/high-schools/nominations/ ).

    Here are this week's nominees, followed by poll (scroll down on poll to vote):

    Boys

    Vance Nilsson, Gilbert, track and field, Sr.: Re-broke his Arizona state record in the 300-meter hurdles at the Northeast Valley Championships, running a nation-leading time of 35.50 seconds.

    Taylor Searle, American Leadership Academy Queen Creek, track and field, Sr.: Cleared 17-6 feet in the pole vault at the Seton Catholic Last Chance Qualifier, the No. 2 mark in state history.

    Vikram Narendran, Tucson Rincon University, tennis, So.: Won both of his singles matches at the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division I state championships, beating Gilbert Perry (6-1, 6-2) and Mesa Mountain View (7-5, 7-5) to advance to the title match against Glendale Mountain Ridge.

    Girls

    Sofia Boonzaayer, Glendale Preparatory Academy, track and field, Jr.: Threw 43-3 in the shot put at the Northeast Valley Championships, which is No. 2 in Arizona this season.

    Katrina Trahan, Oro Valley Canyon del Oro, track and field, Sr.: Threw 140-11 in the discus at the East Valley Qualifier, which is No. 2 in the state this season.

    Georgia Cranford, Scottsdale Notre Dame Preparatory, tennis, Fr.: Won both of her singles matches at the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division II state championships, beating Tucson Salpointe Catholic (6-0, 6-0) and Scottsdale Saguaro (6-0, 6-2) to advance to the title match against Waddell Canyon View.
