Darden Purcell, a Washington D.C. vocalist, will be the featured artist at the Gettysburg Brass Band Festival Jazz al Fresco benefit concert on Thursday, June 6. Darden has shared the stage with leading jazz artists Maria Schneider, Eric Alexander, Terell Stafford, Eddie Daniels, Jim Pugh, Chip McNeill, Chuchito Valdes, Alan Baylock, Byron Stripling, Joel Spencer, and Darmon Meader, and has been a solo vocalist with the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, U.S. Navy Commodores, Airmen of Note. Fire Hero Families from across the United States will attend the 43rd Annual National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Md., May 4-5. . Due to forecasted weather, the Candlelight Service (May 4 at 7:30 pm) and the Memorial Service (May 5 at 10 a.m.) will both take place at PNC Sports Complex Arena at Mount St. Mary’s University. Parking is available onsite.
