Lightning Should Reunite With Blackhawks Forward

The Tampa Bay Lightning are gearing up for what should be a busy offseason. They have several decisions to make, with Steven Stamkos' next contract being the biggest one.

While the Lightning are entering the offseason with limited cap space, they should still find ways to bring in new players to their group. Their bottom six, in particular, could use more offensive production. As a result, one pending free agent who should get their attention is former Lightning forward Tyler Johnson.

Johnson, 33, had a solid season with the Chicago Blackhawks, posting 17 goals and 31 points in 67 games. Adding that kind of production to the Lightning's bottom six would be beneficial. This is especially so when noting that he is unlikely to command much on the market.

Johnson would also be worth bringing back because of his great versatility. The Washington native can play both down the middle and on the wing. Because of this, he would fit virtually anywhere in the Lightning's bottom six if signed. With that, he would also be a nice addition to their second power play unit.

Given the fact that Johnson had a strong tenure with the Lightning and likely can be had at a cheap price, he is someone who should be on the Lightning's radar. Let's see if they make a push for the two-time Stanley Cup winner from here.
